Girl Scout Birthday

Happy Birthday Girl Scouts. Be Proud of 87 years, and counting.

In celebration of our birthday, Troop 79 hosted a Talent Show. We invited all the troops in our school to participate. Wow! What a night!

We gathered Friday March 19 to show off and showcase our very talented scouts. We had 24 acts, quite a variety of talents. Girls from Junior Troop 1414, Junior Troop 543, Brownie Troop 482, and our troop (79) participated.

Phillip, our Brownie Brother, opened the show with "It's SHOW-TIME!"

  1. Margaret and Sarah 2 played piano and sang "Happy Birthday Girl Scouts". The audience joined in.
  2. Two Scouts from Troop 543 did a skit and lipsynced to Gloria Estefan's "1-2-3-4".
  3. Our Bud, Leah, sang "Eensy-Weensy Spider".
  4. We had a presentation on Juliette Low performed by a Junior from Troop 543.
  5. From Troop 1414, we had a pianist playing "Razamataz".
  6. Troop 543 was represented again with a sister-brother team reading a poem.
  7. Brahms' Waltz was played by another pianist from troop 1414.
  8. Kelsey and Sarah 1 Sang and danced to "It's my party".
  9. A very talented Junior from Troop 543 played the Violin.
  10. Then she played Greensleeves on the recorder. She was joined by two Troop-mates in the vocals.
  11. Another girl from Troop 543 sang "I Will Cross the Ocean for You".
  12. A group of ten girls from Troop 1414 performed an original skit "Save the Kalamazoo" about protecting the last of a species.
  13. A Brownie from Troop 482 read an original poem.
  14. Three Juniors from Troop 1414 and a Brownie from Troop 482 did a dance routine.
  15. Chelsea and Taylor sang "Boogie Shoes".
  16. "I'm Screaming at a White Sheepdog" was sung by a Brownie from Troop 482.
  17. A Brownie from Troop 79 played "Kangarooster" on the piano.
  18. A Junior from Troop 543, her sister - a Brownie from Troop 79, their younger sister and their mother did some Mexican dancing.
  19. "Amazing Grace" was performed (piano and vocal) by three Scouts in Troop 1414.
  20. Margaret performed "Spanish Dancer" on the piano.
  21. The co-leader of Troop 543 (she's also our school organizer) read a poem.
  22. Troop 543's leader (and our Service Unit Manager) read "The Green Knight", a tribute to all those men who make Scouting possible.
  23. Ok. Ok. Mrs. Pam and Mrs. Beth couldn't refuse to pass on the opportunity to have some fun too. We sang "There's a Hole in My Bucket". The audience had as much fun as we did.
  24. As a Finale, Troop 79 sang "We Are Family".

I think fun was had by all, performers and audience alike. This will probably become an annual event. (But how will Mrs. Pam and Mrs. Beth top this year's side-splitter?!?)

Happy Scouting Birthday-ers
